Authorities are investigating whether the man who robbed First Bank in Dutzow on Friday may have been involved in other bank robberies in Warren and surrounding counties.

“We understand he is a suspect in a bank robbery in St. Charles and we are working with other agencies to determine whether he may be involved in other bank robberies in Warren County and in Jonesburg,” Warren County Sheriff Kevin Harrison said Wednesday morning. “We are investigating whether he may be a serial bank robber.”

The suspect, Warren T. Gladders, 64, who is an attorney from Wentzville, has been charged in Warren County Circuit Court with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, two counts of armed criminal action, first-degree robbery, and unlawful possession of an illegal weapon.

Gladders is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Oct. 15 in Warren County. The case currently is in the court of Associate Circuit Court Judge Richard Scheible.

The suspect, who was wounded in both legs in a shoot-out with a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper following Friday’s armed holdup, was released Tuesday afternoon from a St. Louis hospital and is being held in the Warren County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
