A Washington man is scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court later this month on charges that he engaged in deviate sexual acts with a young girl.
Sean B. Geisert, 41, is charged with two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy in an indictment issued Thursday, Aug. 29, by the Franklin County grand jury.
The indictment was sealed until the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11, when Geisert was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He was released later that day after posting a $25,000 bond in the case.
A detective with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said the department began an investigation after being notified of the allegations through a hotline call.
The indictment alleges that Geisert engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with the young girl, who was 8 years old at the time of the hotline report, between Jan. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2012.
Prosecuting Attorney Bob Parks said the maximum penalty on each count ranges from 10 years to life in prison because the victim was under the age of 12 at the time of the alleged offenses.
Geisert’s case is set for arraignment Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the court of Presiding Circuit Judge Gael Wood, according to online court documents.
