A Sullivan man was killed Thursday, Nov. 2, when he was ejected from a motorcycle after it struck a deer.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report, James L. Strothkamp, 60, was on a 2005 Harley-Davidson northbound on Highway J four miles north of Bourbon at 10:47 p.m. when the motorcycle struck a deer, crossed the centerline and overturned. Strothkamp was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coronor Darren Dake. His body was transported to Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba.

Strothkamp was wearing a helmet, the patrol said.
