A strong line of severe thunderstorms hit Franklin County shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, bringing damaging winds, vivid lightning and heavy rain to parts of the county.
The National Weather Service out of St. Louis issued a tornado warning for parts of the county from about 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. after a tornado was spotted in Sullivan. There were other reports of a tornado north of Union. It was not known if the tornadoes were confirmed.
There were no confirmed reports of injuries or damage, although a wind gust of about 100 mph apparently was reported at the Sullivan airport at about the time the tornado warning was issued.
Trees, limbs and power lines were reported down throughout the area. Hail about the size of quarters was reported around Pacific.
