The Missourian is seeking stories of local active duty soldiers and veterans, living or deceased, for a special supplement that will run in November.
The newspaper is partnering with Bank of Washington, Ming Senior Services, Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Washington Smiles, Chris Auffenberg and A.M. Hoerr Financial as part of its special Honoring Our Heroes . . . Past and Present recognition.
“We are asking the public to submit a story of a veteran, active military or reservist who inspires them,” said Whitney Livengood, Missourian digital advertising sales manager.
“An appointed committee will select several stories to be featured in our Veterans Day supplement that will run in the Wednesday, Nov. 8, issue,” Livengood said. “All submissions will be recognized in the supplement and featured online at emissourian.com/hero.”
“Nothing can compare to the stories we hear about those serving in our Armed Forces,” Livengood said. “Whether they have been passed down through the generations, told to us by one of our elders or are a present-day story, rarely do we experience such messages of courage and resilience as we do when hearing of our veterans, active military or reservists.”
To share a story, people may go to emissourian.com/hero or mail stories to The Missourian, Attention Whitney Livengood, P.O. Box 336, Washington, MO 63090. The deadline to submit stories is Sept. 29.
Part of the proceeds from the special supplement will benefit a local veterans organization.
