A 24-year-old Salem man was charged Monday in the shooting death of Darrell L. Johnson at his Robertsville area residence.  

Wesley Tatom was charged in the Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with second-degree murder. A $250,000 cash-only bond was set for his release.

Tatom is being held in the Monroe County Jail awaiting an extradition hearing.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Multi-County Narcotics and Violent Crime Unit worked through the weekend following leads that led to the arrest of Tatom in Waterloo, Ill.

Two suspects were arrested Monday in connection to a the shooting death of a Robertsville man. 

Waterloo Police, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and the Illinois State Police began assisting the Franklin County Sheriff's office in the investigation Sunday.

The suspects are being held at the Waterloo Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, authorities said.

A 46-year-old Robertsville area man was shot and killed Friday night outside a camper he was staying in on Wardfield Road.

According to Maj. T.J. Wild with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Darrel L. Johnson was transported to Mercy Hospital Washington following the 9 p.m. shooting. He died later that night.

Wild said Johnson heard a noise outside the camper parked in the 1200 block of Warfield Road and he was shot when he went outside to investigate.

Witnesses saw two vehicles - a small red passenger car and a black pickup - leave the scene following the shooting.
