A Robertsville man sustained serious injuries Saturday, March 4, when the car he was driving left the road and struck a tree.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol preliminary report, Jacob A. Myers, 19, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer too fast for conditions on Stone Ridge Road south of Oak Ridge Road at 1:25 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to slide on gravel.

Myers overcorrected the vehicle, traveled off the right side of the road before striking a tree, the patrol said.

He was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Meramec Ambulance. It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
