The Franklin County Health Department is expanding its hours for the new year to better serve its current clientele and open access to new visitors.

With current hours mirroring most standard workdays, it can be inconvenient for some to make it in, thus some needs are not being met.

Director Angie Hittson says the change in hours is to make service more accessible to everyone, no matter what their work schedules.

The new schedule will include later hours on Thursdays and services available midday at 12:30.

“Surveys that have been passed out to participants are showing an interest in later hours and lunch coverage so that is what we are going to try,” Hittson said. “The new hours of operation are for WIC and clinical services. All other services, including vital records, will only be available during normal business hours.”

Here is a breakdown of the new hours provided to The Missourian:

• Mondays through Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

• Thursdays 8 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 6 p.m.

Due to the increased hours on most days, the office will now operate from 8 a.m. until noon on Fridays.
