Hermann Area District Hospital hosted a “Working Together” celebration with Mercy Hospital Washington Tuesday, March 26, to commemorate the start of the affiliation between Mercy and Hermann Area District Hospital.
“Hermann Area District Hospital and Mercy are grateful to be able to build a closer working relationship to benefit all the patients now and in the future. This relationship will help make HADH strong for years to come,” said Dan McKinney, administrator for Hermann Area District Hospital.
Speakers also included Donn Sorensen, president of Mercy’s east Missouri region; Terri McLain, president of Mercy Hospital Washington; and Dr. David Chalk, president of Mercy Clinic. Sister Michaelanne Estroup, RSM, offered a blessing and prayer for doctors, patients and co-workers.
Sorensen thanked the board of directors, administrators and staff for the warm welcome Mercy has received in Hermann and reaffirmed Mercy’s commitment to bring physicians, services and technologies to the residents of Montgomery and Gasconade counties.
McLain said the shared health care providers and technologies at Mercy and Hermann Area District Hospital will better serve those who need emergent and inpatient care.
“We also will be able to transfer patients faster who are in need of critical and specialty care services at Mercy Hospital Washington,” McLain said. “In an emergency, time matters, and this arrangement will bring relief and comfort to patients faster than ever.”
Dr. Chalk added, “Mercy will bring additional Mercy Clinic doctors to the Hermann area; more family physicians and more specialists, so people don’t need to drive far away to receive a checkup or consult with a specialist for their particular health needs.”
At the close of the celebration, cake and refreshments were served and Mercy presented “working together”-labeled T-shirts to Hermann Area District Hospital employees to commemorate the start of the affiliation.
Hermann Area District Hospital is a 24-bed critical access hospital located in Hermann about 34 miles from Mercy Hospital Washington.
