A man who was handcuffed in a Franklin County deputy’s patrol car was charged for allegedly fleeing on foot from authorities.
Aaron C. Napier, 28, Washington, was charged Friday in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with escaping from custody while under arrest for a felony. He is being held on $10,000 cash-only bond.
The charge stems from an incident early Thursday, Oct. 26, at an apartment off Julie Ann Court off Highway A south of Washington where deputies were dispatched for a report of domestic assault, according Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton.
When deputies arrived on the scene Napier and a woman both had minor injuries. They gave inconsistent statements concerning the injuries, authorities said.
Napier was taken into custody for suspicion of domestic assault. He was handcuffed behind his back and seated in a patrol car when he fled on foot.
The suspect was apprehended a short time later, Pelton said.
