Franklin County Cares will host a free trauma training event Thursday, Dec. 13, in Washington.

The program will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Washington High School theater.

Pizza and soda will be provided at 5:30 p.m. The training will begin at 6 p.m.

The training will provide participants with a basic understanding of the effects of difficult/traumatic events on children, families and the community; an overview of symptoms that could be caused by a traumatic experience; tips on how to assist children affected; and an understanding of how to access trauma informed interventions in Franklin County.

This training was previously called Trauma 101.

Day care will be provided for those who register by Dec. 7.
