Digital Voter Check-In
A voter completes the two-step, electronic check in process with poll workers at Washington City Hall around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. Poll workers used iPads to verify registered Franklin Country voters. An ID card sent by the office of the county clerk featured a bar code containing voter information. The bar code was scanned using a special feature on the Apple tablet. All voters, including those without a card issued by the county clerk, signed the iPad screen before receiving a ballot. Franklin County Clerk Debbie Door said the Nov. 6 election was one of the “best presidential elections we ever had” and attributed the success in part to the use of iPads to process voters.
The county’s chief election official reported on the recent presidential election at Tuesday’s county commission meeting. She said there were few lines and even fewer glitches during this election.
