The Franklin County Health Department has renewed its contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) to provide Women, Infants and Children (WIC) services to the residents of Franklin County.
The WIC program in Franklin County has an annual caseload of 17,957 participants.
The WIC program continues to provide assistance to pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to their 5th birthday based on nutritional risk and income eligibility.
The primary services provided are health screenings, nutritional risk assessment, nutritional education and counseling, and referrals to health care providers and community organizations as needed.
The WIC program is also committed to assisting mothers in establishing and continuing to breastfeed their babies by offering breastfeeding education, support and assistance with pumps. Supplemental food is provided at no cost to participants. Migrant families are also eligible.
To be eligible for WIC, applicants must have an income of less than or equal to 185 percent of the poverty level. Income guidelines effective May 1, 2018 are as follows:
• Family of one with an annual income of $22,459; $1,872 monthly; $432 weekly.
• Family of two with an annual income of $30,451; $2,538 monthly; $586 weekly.
• Family of three with an annual income of $38,443; $3,204 monthly, and $740 weekly.
• Family of four with an annual income of $46,436; $3,870 monthly; $893 weekly.
Family of five with an annual income of $54,427; $4,536 monthly and $1,047 weekly.
• Family of six with an annual income of $62,419; $5,202 monthly; $1,201 weekly.

The county’s WIC office is located at 414 E. Main St. in Union. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 4:30 p/m., closed for lunch from noon PM to 1 p.m..
