A Franklin County man has been charged in the theft of a car from a Gerald woman.
Jeremy M. Nixon, 31, Gerald, was charged Monday, Oct. 23, in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with felony first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $10,000.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Gerald police in the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office, Nixon allegedly stole a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu from a residence in the 300 block of West Third Street, Gerald, Oct. 10.
Nixon was arrested Oct. 22 and did not know the location of the car, authorities said. He told police he had been under the influence of drugs and alcohol for about three weeks.
Nixon had been on probation for resisting arrest and second-degree burglary charges.
