Dr. Tim Elmore, a nationally recognized author, will speak on “Artificial Maturity: Helping Kids Meet the Challenge of Becoming Authentic Adults” Sept. 18-19, at Immanuel Lutheran School, 214 W. Fifth St.

Elmore will speak primarily to parents Thursday evening, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., on the topic of “Artificial Maturity” and primarily to teachers and educators Friday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon on “Growing Student Leaders.”

The presentations are free and open to the public.

Dr. Elmore is the founder and president of Growing Leaders, an international nonprofit that focuses on preparing tomorrow’s leaders today.

He is the best-selling author of more than 25 books on parenting and leadership, including “Artificial Maturity: Helping Kids Meet the Challenge of Becoming Authentic Adults,” and “Generation iY; Our Last Chance to Save the Future.”

Both books look at the challenges of raising children who have become overexposed to information through the Internet and underexposed to real life experiences.
