A coin toss will determine the winner of a tied alderman race in New Haven.

The candidates had the option of having a new election or breaking the tie through a coin toss.

The candidates, Gerald Sewell and John Estes, each got 102 votes in the Ward 2 alderman race last Tuesday. There were also two write-in votes in the election.

The coin toss is set for noon, next Friday, April 19, at City Hall, 101 Front St., New Haven.

The city clerk will conduct the coin toss, which is open to the public.
