Muckfest Considered By Franklin County Planning Commission
People may get a chance to wallow in the mud for a good cause this spring.
The Franklin County Planning and Zoning board considered a request from Event 360, Inc., to hold a “Muckfest” Saturday, May 18, on 298 acres located on Rabbit Lane approximately one-quarter mile west of Willow Ford Road in Calvey Township.
The event involves a five-mile course where participants slip and slide through miles of water and muck, navigating about 20 obstacles that include climbing a wall of logs, slithering through the muck under a cargo net and swinging across a mud pit. The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Muckfest will host a variety of vendors and will provide live entertainment, a beer garden and snack bar.
Event representatives estimated there would be about 1,500 to 2,000 participants.
Citing concerns of noise, safety and liability, the planning board voted unanimously to send the matter to the review committee. The matter will again be brought before the board next month.
