A new smartphone mobile application, app, will allow users to access information provided by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The free app became available Wednesday. With it, the sheriff’s department will have the ability to send out mass information to users, such as when deputies are searching for suspects or missing persons.

Citizens also will be able to use it to access information on jail inmates and the sex offender registry as well as active warrant information.

At this time it is only available for Android phones, however, it should be available for iPhones soon, the sheriff’s office said.

The program is currently in the building stages and more features will be added in the future.

To apply for the application, citizens can go to the Google App Store on the Internet for Franklin County Sheriff’s Office New Mobile App.

Deputies will also have cards with instructions on how to apply for the app in their cars next week.

To learn more about the app or to view additional screenshots visit the apps information page in the Google App Store.
