A brick dedication for the Angel of Hope Memorial Garden will be held Sunday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at the garden which is located south of Lions Lake.

The deadline to purchase a brick for the fall ceremony is Friday, Aug. 9.

The Angel of Hope garden is a meditative area for family, friends, and siblings of children who have died.

Bricks are $125 each and can hold up to three lines of text with up to 20 characters per line.

To purchase a brick, people may visit the parks department.

About the Angel

The Angel of Hope is an exact replica of the Christmas Box “Angel” statue, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and stands as a symbol of hope for all parents who have experienced the death of a child.

The Angel of Hope is based on the angel statue in Richard Paul Evans’ best-selling novel, “The Christmas Box.”

The statue and the surrounding area are intended to be a place of healing for all bereaved parents, family members and friends.

“It’s a place where parents, siblings, family members and friends can come to help relieve some of the grief that may be experiencing,” said Robin Peirick, committee member. “Hopefully, our garden gives (families) some peace.”

Donations Needed

Donations are still needed to defray the cost of establishing the garden.

Donations also will be used to provide scholarships for families who cannot afford an engraved brick, complete landscaping and provide for a perpetual care fund to help care for the garden in the years to come.

Those who wish to donate may mail donations with checks payable to C.O.W — Angel of Hope to City of Washington, Angel of Hope Memorial Garden, 405 Jefferson St., Washington, MO, 63090.

For more information, people may call Peirick, 636-231-4081, or visit angelofhopewashmo.com.
