A St. Louis man has been charged with drug possession after he dropped a small bag of suspected cocaine in a school parking lot Monday, April 29.

Thomas G. Gilson, 36, was charged in Franklin County Associate Circuit Court with felony possession of a controlled substance. Prosecutors requested a $30,000 cash-only bond.

According to the Franklin County Narcotics office, Gilson allegedly dropped the drugs in the school parking lot while he was dropping his child off at Nike School in the Catawissa area.

A school employee picked up the drugs after he saw the bag fall from the suspect’s pocket, authorities said.

A Franklin County deputy identified Gilson whose driver’s license had been revoked.

On Tuesday, April 30, deputies stopped the car Gilson was driving after he dropped off a child at the school.

Deputies confiscated $1,589 in cash and two bags containing several games of suspected cocaine.

Gilson was taken to Franklin County jail.
