UPDATED: Franklin County authorities issued felony charges Friday afternoon against a Robertsville man accused of assaulting two men during an argument Wednesday night at a home near Stanton.
Dylan D. Carter, 33, is being held in the county jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond in the incident that occurred in the 1300 block of Lollar Branch Road.
Carter is charged with one count each of first-degree assault, armed criminal action and tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution.
County detectives arrested Carter Thursday night following an investigation of the incident that left one man with a gunshot wound to the back and another with severe head and face injuries, authorities said.
Deputies first learned of the incident about 10:30 p.m. Oct. 16 when Missouri Baptist Hospital emergency room personnel reported that a man was being treated for a gunshot wound.
The victim, Donald Petzold, 41, St. Clair, had been shot once in the back. Doctors at the Sullivan hospital stabilized him and he later was flown by air ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for further treatment, the sheriff said.
Petzold said he was shot while walking along Lollar Branch Road.
A woman who was with the victim at the time of the shooting took him to the hospital in Sullivan, according to reports.
Detective Lt. Chuck Subke said that investigators learned Thursday about the second victim who had been struck several times with the butt end of a rifle. He was identified as Dallon Ausbrooks, 26, of the Bourbon area.
Ausbrooks sought treatment for his injuries later Thursday, Subke said.
