A Franklin County jury deliberated more than three hours Wednesday night before returning a guilty verdict in a sex crime case.
The seven-men, five-women jury found Ronny R. Adamse, 46, who lives in the Krakow area, guilty of one count of first-degree statutory sodomy at the conclusion of the one-day trial.
Adamse is facing a sentence of 10 years to life in prison for having deviate sexual intercourse with an 8-year-old boy Sept. 23, 2011.
Circuit Judge Gael Wood is scheduled to sentence Adamse July 23 at 3 p.m. The judge allowed the man to remain free on an existing $20,000 surety bond.
By law, Adamse will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He also may be subject to lifetime supervision by the state.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Briane Barr handled the case for the state. The state called four witnesses to testify, including the boy. Adamse took the stand and testified that he did not do anything wrong and that he did not intend to harm the boy, according to Prosecutor Bob Parks.
