Winning Lottery Ticket Sold at Marthasville Bar, Prize Worth $2.3 Million
Someone from this area could be the newest Missouri Lotto millionaire.
A $2.3 million Lotto ticket was sold last week at Infield Sports Bar & Grill on Highway 47 in Marthasville.
Bar owners Bob Hase and Bonnie Borgmann said this is the biggest winning lottery game ticket they’ve sold, noting that someone previously won $5,000 playing Keno.
Hase said most of his customers are locals, so the winner could very well be someone from Marthasville or elsewhere in Warren or Franklin counties.
“They (Lottery officials) can’t tell me exactly when the ticket was sold until the winners come forward, but they said it was sold between Monday and Wednesday,” Hase said.
The ticket was from the first Lotto drawing of the year on Jan. 2. The six numbers drawn were 2, 6, 17, 18, 22 and 33.
“What a great way for one of our players to start the new year,” said May Scheve Reardon, executive director for the Missouri Lottery. “If you’re the one holding this lucky ticket, please sign the back of it now and keep it in a safe place until you’re ready to claim your prize at one of our four Lottery offices.”
Lotto winners have exactly 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize. In this case, the winner has until July 1, according to Lotto rules. Missouri Lottery offices are located in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Kansas City and Springfield.
Hase said he and Borgmann also will get some lottery money for selling the winning ticket. The bar owners will get $5,000.
“They put a cap on it,” Hase said. “It used to be 1 percent.”
Still, he said $5,000 is a pretty good chunk of money.
This is the 216th Lotto jackpot winner since the game started back in 1986.
