Franklin County sales tax collections for January are up over last year.

For January of this year, the county collected a total of $1.2 million in sales taxes.

That is $265,693 more sales tax than the county collected in January 2012.

For the year, the county has budgeted to receive a total of $15.6 million in sales taxes.

The county collects three half-cent sales taxes — general fund, capital improvements/road and bridge and law enforcement.
