A Franklin County man accused of striking a teenager with his car has been charged in a two-count felony warrant.
Charles T. Ziegler, 26, St. Clair, is charged in the warrant with one count each of second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident. Associate Circuit Judge Dave Hoven ordered a $50,000 cash-only bond in the case.
Franklin County authorities allege that Ziegler was driving a car that struck 18-year-old Holliday Krupp Sunday, Sept. 15.
The incident happened about 5:40 p.m. on White Road at Louise Drive in the Piney Park area southeast of St. Clair.
Deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car. Detective Lt. Chuck Subke said two witnesses reported seeing the car strike Krupp and leave the scene.
Subke said the girl sustained injuries to her right side. She was taken to Mercy Hospital Washington for examination and treatment, according to a report.
Ziegler, according to online court documents, is currently awaiting trial in a prior felony case.
He is charged in that case with first-degree assault that resulted in serious injury in an incident Aug. 5, 2011.
Ziegler was indicted by a Franklin County jury in that case in March 2013.
His next court appearance in that 2011 case is set for Nov. 5 in Circuit Judge Ike Lamke’s court.
