A Franklin County man who allegedly fired several shots following a verbal altercation Sunday, April 14, is charged in a two-count felony complaint.

Lewis Kent, 46, is charged with one count each of unlawful use of a firearm by an intoxicated person and unlawful use of a weapon. His bond was set at $5,000, according to reports.

Sunday evening, April 14, sheriff’s deputies went to a home in the 900 block of Sunflower Lane, west of St. Clair in the Anaconda area following a report of a man discharging a firearm and found Kent standing on the home’s deck. He had a shotgun behind him and a pouch containing ammunition, the sheriff’s office reported.

The victims, three females, told deputies that they were walking their dog down the road when Kent’s dog ran toward them. They said Kent retrieved his dog, then began calling them names.

The victims said after Kent went back to his home, they heard a series of shots, but did not see the direction that he was shooting.

Kent, according to the report, told deputies that he had been in an altercation with the victims and that he had fired the shotgun into a bush, not at them.

The man initially refused to give deputies his name when he was taken into custody, according to the report.
