Flu cases in Franklin County appear to be tapering off.

This month the county health department has seen an average of about 20 reported flu cases a week.

In February last year, the county was seeing about 100 cases a week, said Tony Buel, epidemiology specialist with the county health department.

In December, the county was seeing about 100 flu cases reported each week.

The total number of cases for the season in Franklin County was 620 on Tuesday.

In 2012, there were more than 700 cases of flu reported in Franklin County.
