Franklin County authorities are searching for a man who broke into a home, put a gun to a woman’s head and stole cash.
The home invasion happened about 2:17 a.m. Tuesday in the 4000 block of North Virginia Mines Road east of St. Clair, Sheriff Gary Toelke said.
The female victim told deputies she was in bed when the suspect entered the home through a rear door and came into her bedroom.
The victim said the man held a handgun to her head, demanded cash, then pulled the trigger several times but the gun did not fire, according to the report.
The suspect then took some cash and fled out the back door, according to the victim. She said she last saw the man running toward White Acres subdivision.
The man was gone when deputies arrived. They searched the area but did not locate him.
The woman said she is familiar with the suspect and identified him for deputies, Toelke said.
