County detectives are continuing to investigate a St. Louis woman’s report that she was sexually assaulted by two men when she stopped in the Villa Ridge area Sunday.

According to the sheriff’s office report, the 33-year-old woman said she had been at a home in Cuba and was on her way back to St. Louis on Interstate 44 and had planned to turn onto Highway 30 at St. Clair but missed the exit ramp.

She said she turned off of I-44 at another spot and  attempted to get directions. The sheriff’s office believes she may have turned off at the Highway 100 Washington exit.

That’s when she said she saw two white males across the road. The men approached her vehicle, one wielding a knife, the other a gun, the woman told deputies.

The victim said she was sexually assaulted and was cut with the knife and struck with gun, according to the report.

She was taken by Union Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington where she was treated and released.
