A Franklin County woman is charged with murdering her boyfriend following an argument Wednesday night, July 27.

Glenda J. Smith, 57, is charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of armed criminal action in the death of Wayne Dielschneider, 57, Lonedell.

Dielschneider was shot once in the chest with a .357 magnum pistol, according to a probable cause statement filed in circuit court.

Franklin County deputies responded about 8:42 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a man being shot during a domestic dispute at a home in the 2000 block of Highway 47 near Project Road in southeast Franklin County.

When deputies arrived, Smith came out of the home with her hands in the air. She was taken into custody and deputies then found Dielschneider's body in the home's kitchen along with the handgun.

During questioning by a detective Smith confessed that she shot and killed Dielschneider, according to the probable cause statement.

Smith said she became upset after another woman had called Dielschneider and that the two had a verbal argument. At one point in the argument Smith said she went into her bedroom, got her handgun, came back into the kitchen and shot Dielschneider, according to the court statement. She reportedly said she only intended to scare Dielschneider.

Smith was being held in the county jail on a $250,000 bond.
