Area Lawmakers Receive Committee Assignments

State legislators who represent Franklin County have been assigned to committees for the General Assembly, which is currently in effect until May 17.

State Rep. Dave Schatz, R-Sullivan, is the chairman of the transportation committee, vice chair of the utilities committee, and is also serving on the budget committee as well as the appropriations committee for revenue, transportation and economic development and the appropriations committee for infrastructure and job creation.

State Rep. Paul Curtman, R-Pacific, is the chairman of the downsizing state government committee and also serves on the ways and means and economic development committees.

State Rep. Dave Hinson, R-St. Clair, is the chairman of the crime prevention and public safety committee and also serves on the professional registration and licensing committee, financial institutions committee, transportation committee as well as the appropriations committee for public safety and corrections and the appropriations committee for infrastructure and job creation.

State Rep. Tim Jones, R-Eureka, is the speaker of the House and an exofficio member of all House committees.

State Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, is the chairman of the general laws committee and also serves on the education committee, rules, joint rules, resolutions and ethics committee, veterans’ affairs and health committee as well as the joint committee on child abuse and neglect and the joint committee on education.
