Two Franklin County men were injured, one seriously, early Saturday in a one-car crash south of New Haven.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported that Timothy E. Schowe, 24, New Haven, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe southbound on Hoeman Road when he lost control. The vehicle crossed the centerline, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, according to the preliminary patrol report.

Schowe and a passenger, Devin M. Poertner, 21, New Haven, were not wearing safety belts, the patrol reported.

Both were taken by New Haven Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington. The patrol reported that Poertner sustained apparent serious injuries and described Schowe’s injuries as minor.

Schowe was cited on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to an arrest report on the patrol’s website.

The 2:13 a.m. crash happened north of Stone Church Road.
