A teenager was injured Saturday, Aug. 17, when the ATV he was riding crashed on a Franklin County road north of Gerald, the sheriff’s office reported.

The sheriff's office said Matt Farrell, 14, sustained serious injuries in the crash on Tegeler Road. He was taken by Gerald Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Washington for treatment, according to the report.

Deputies were called to scene about 2:20 p.m. Saturday along with Gerald fire and ambulance district personnel.

The sheriff’s office said the teen was driving the ATV westbound on Tegeler Road and failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection with Wheeler Road. The ATV ran off the road and overturned, striking a fence and a tree.

The teen’s condition or extent of injuries was not known when the office released the report Monday.
