Suspected Meth Found by Deputies During Traffic Stop
Three people from southwest Missouri are facing charges in Franklin County after they allegedly left a service station without paying for gas, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office said personnel at the Petro Mart station at Villa Ridge reported Sunday, Dec. 23, that suspects in a vehicle left without paying for gas.
As deputies were responding to the call they observed a matching vehicle westbound on Interstate 44 and stopped the suspects near the 247 mile-marker, according to the report.
Inside the car they found approximately eight grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine along with about 100 small plastic bags and some drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver, an 18-year-old from Springfield, Mo., was arrested on an outstanding warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance. Two males, ages 18 and 26, also from Springfield, were arrested for investigation of stealing motor fuel, the sheriff’s office reported.
Names of the suspects were not released pending issuance of warrants.
