A Franklin County man accused of holding a gun to his daughter’s throat during an altercation has been charged in a felony complaint, authorities said.

Michael Zweifel, 51, Union, is charged in the complaint with one count of second-degree domestic assault. Associate Circuit Judge Dave Hoven set bond at $35,000 in the case.

Franklin County deputies were called to Zweifel’s home in the 3000 block of Sunset Lane, south of Union about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, June 22, to a report of an assault.

They determined that Zweifel and his wife were watching their daughter’s children and also were hosting a party for a relative, the sheriff’s office reported.

When the daughter arrived to pick up her children, Zweifel allegedly confronted her and grabbed her by her hair and held a handgun next to her throat, according to the report.

At that point, a man who was with the daughter grabbed the gun and struck Zweifel several times, the sheriff reported.

The daughter and the man then took the children and left the residence and called the sheriff’s office, the report states.

When deputies arrived they took Zweifel into custody on the assault allegation.
