The annual Friends of the Foundation dinner, sponsored by the East Central College Foundation, will take place Friday, Feb. 1, at the Holiday Inn at Six Flags in Eureka.
The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. followed by a gourmet dinner at 7:30 p.m.
There also will be an oral auction followed by entertainment featuring the ECC Vocal Jazz and Jazz Combo.
“We have a great evening planned and the oral auction is something new. We will auction off several travel packages, a cocktail dinner party and a BillyO original oil painting,” said Shannon Grus, executive director.
Grus said the event is important because it raises money for scholarships and helps keep ECC as an affordable option for everyone in the community.
“Our scholarships are funded through our investments and when the market is down or our returns are not as robust as we would like, the event’s proceeds provide the additional funding we need to fully fund all of our scholarships,” she said.
“Even if you are unable to attend, you can support scholarships by making a donation to the Foundation.”
Grus noted the name of the annual scholarship recognition event was changed two years ago to Friends of the Foundation dinner.
There are several sponsorship opportunities for the Friends program and dinner.
The highest level is the Falcon level at $4,000 which includes eight dinner tickets. This level is the equivalent of tuition and fees for a student for a two-year degree at ECC.
The Foundation Level is $2,000, which also includes eight dinner tickets. This level covers one year of tuition and fees for a student.
The Presidents Level is $1,000, which includes six tickets. This level provides one semester of tuition and fees.
The Trustees Level is $500, which includes four tickets. This level covers partial tuition and fees for one semester.
The Leadership Level is $250, which includes two tickets. This level covers one semester book fees for a student.
An individual Friend of the Foundation sponsor which includes one ticket to the dinner is $75.
All sponsorships also include event publicity.
The dress code for the dinner is coat and tie.
Grus said the East Central College Foundation was established to support the growth and development of East Central College. It is chartered as a nonprofit 501(c)(3)organization for educational purposes and solicits and receives tax-deductible gifts which are managed to benefit the college, its students and facilities.
The college continues to experience record growth in enrollment, Grus said, but along with growth comes greater need.
“A donation to the ECC Foundation helps provide opportunities for students to succeed,” she said. “Each success strengthens our community and provides a brighter future.”
