The Franklin County Building Department issued six permits for single-family homes in May, which is one less than May of last year.
Through May, the county has issued 38 permits for new single-family homes, compared to 39 through May of last year.
Last month’s rainy weather may have prevented additional single-family home permits from being issued, said Building Department Office Manager Susan Scott.
Even though the number of permits for single-family homes is basically the same as last year at this point, Scott said she thinks 2013 will exceed 2012.
The number of inquiries and applications related to single-family permits makes her think home construction could be on the upswing.
There were 87 permits for single-family homes in 2012 and 101 in 2011.
The value of the six single-family home permits issued in May of this year was $1.4 million.
