The Franklin County Area United Way will announce its 2014 fund-raising goal later this month at a special kick-off breakfast for corporate contributors.
The event will be held Thursday, July 31, in the health and science building lecture hall at East Central College in Union.
A continental breakfast will be served from 7 to 7:45 a.m. followed by the program at 7:50 a.m.
The kickoff breakfast is being held earlier this year so it doesn’t conflict with the Washington Fair.
Representatives of the United Way’s Top 30 corporate contributors, Leadership donors, the five pilot companies spearheading the drive and emerging companies have been invited, according to Kim Strubberg, the executive director.
Emerging companies are those that are either new or expanding their campaigns.
City and county officials also have been invited, Strubberg said.
The campaign co-chairs this year are Stephen Trentmann, board president, and Diana Holdinghausen, vice president. Both will speak at the kickoff.
Along with the goal, special events planned during the campaign will be announced.
The United Way’s campaign video also will be shown which highlights Gateway Education and Therapy, Union.
The guest speakers will be Grant and Kayla Bartel, whose son Evan is featured in the video. The couple will talk about how Gateway has helped their son.
United Way board members and representatives of the five pilot companies will be introduced during the program. Sponsors for the campaign also will be announced.
Strubberg said campaign materials will be passed out as well.
“It should be a fun morning and we hope to have a big turnout,” she said. “It’s always exciting to kick off another campaign and we’re ready to go.”
The official start to the drive is Sept. 2. The campaign will run through Oct. 31. The pilot companies have already started their in-house drives, which should be completed by the end of the month.
The United Way is celebrating its 61 years of building better communities.
