A Warren County man has been ordered to serve 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography and child endangerment charges.
Jason D. Helm, 38, of Warrenton, was sentenced Wednesday by Circuit Judge Wesley Dalton.
The investigation began in September 2010 after a woman, who was not identified, said she found various images of child porn on her cellphone after she allowed Helm to use it.
Forensic examination of the phone allegedly revealed that it contained a video and photos of juvenile males engaged in pornographic activities, the sheriff’s department stated.
A television screen seen in the photographs was later located at Helm’s former residence, according to the sheriff’s department.
A disc also was found behind Helm’s residence which allegedly contained some of the same images found on the phone, authorities said.
Two juvenile males, a 15-year-old and a 12-year-old, both told the sheriff’s department that Helm showed them images of nude men, according to law enforcement authorities.
Additionally, both juvenile males also stated that Helm allegedly provided them with marijuana in the summer of 2010.
The 15-year-old male said Helm provided him with marijuana at a residence in the 800 block of Tiffany Court in Warren County, according to the probable cause statement.
The 12-year-old male identified a location along Highway 47 just north of Washington where Helm provided him with marijuana, authorities stated.
During a recorded phone conversation between Helm and a witness, Helm allegedly stated that he obtained the images of child pornography from a dating website and that he knew it was illegal for him to possess the images, according to police.
