The East Central College Board of Trustees Monday night approved the rehiring of 48 full-time professional staff members for fiscal year 2014.

The board also approved hiring three new instructors who will start in the fall semester.

Christina Swanson was approved as the new theater instructor.

Swanson comes to ECC with a variety of experience in all aspects of theater, including production, set building, lighting, director and sales consultant for theatrical supplies.

She has a master’s degree in communications with an emphasis in technical theater from Morehead State University in Morehead, Ky.

DeAnna Cassat will teach accounting and busines.

Cassat has a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has been an associate cost accountant at Harman International.

Mary Buckley has been hired as the new reading instructor.

Buckley previously served as an adjunct reading instructor at St. Louis and St. Charles community colleges.

She also has worked at Jefferson College as a learning center instructor, test supervisor and GED instructor.

The resignation of Ryan McDonnell, coordinator of student activities, was approved effective June 7. That position has not been filled.

There also are 18 vacancies at East Central campuses that have yet to be filled, including four grant-funded positions.
