Elected officials, community leaders and other volunteers in Franklin County will kick off the state’s month-long initiative No MOre Trash! Bash Saturday.

The public is invited to attend the event and should meet at the Gray Summit commuter lot near Interstate 44 at 9 a.m.

No MOre Trash! Bash is sponsored by Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri Department of Conservation to help clean up litter from Missouri roads.

The goal of the annual No MOre Trash! Bash is to spread awareness of Missouri’s litter problem and work toward a litter-free state.

In 2012, more than 18,000 volunteers and other participants collected more than 130,000 bags of trash and tons of other debris throughout Missouri. Each year, MoDOT spends more than $5 million to clear litter along highways throughout the state.

MoDOT will supply participants with trash bags, safety vests, litter pickers and gloves during these litter pickups. For more information, contact Kara Price, MoDOT Community Relations, at 1-888 ASK MoDOT or kara.price@modot.mo.gov.
