The arrest this week of a suspected Franklin County drug dealer may lead to a larger investigation and more arrests.

Members of the Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit served a search warrant Monday, May 5, at a home on Lynn Lane in the Lonedell area and seized a large amount of crystal methamphetamine, according to Detective Cpl. Scott Briggs.

That search led to the arrest of Jeremy Algiere, 35, on charges of drug trafficking and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Briggs said during the search, officers found 7 ounces of crystal meth inside the home along with a 9 mm handgun.

Briggs said Algiere has an “extensive criminal history,” with prior felony convictions in Missouri and Florida. It’s a crime in Missouri for a felon to possess a gun.

The detective estimated that the drugs seized have a street value of approximately $10,000.

Algier was booked and is being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond.

However, the case may be presented to the U.S. attorney’s office for federal charges, according to Detective Sgt. Jason Grellner, task force chief.

“We will be working with our federal DEA partners to expand the investigation,” Grellner said.

Algiere was sentenced to concurrent three-year sentences in the Missouri Department of Corrections in two prior Franklin County drug possession cases, according to online court records.
