Habitat Seeking Applicants for Home in New Haven

Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County is seeking applicants to apply for a home to be built in New Haven.

An informational meeting will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, at 9:30 a.m., at the Riverfront Cultural Society in Downtown New Haven.

Representatives from Habitat will be on hand to answer any questions and help with applications.

Applications are available at libraries in New Haven, Gerald, Pacific, Sullivan, St. Clair, Union and Washington.

Those unable to obtain applications at one of the locations listed above may call the Habitat office, 636-583-1020, and leave their name and address on the answering machine, or request by mail at Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County, P.O. Box 178, Union, MO 63084.

Applications may be downloaded online at www.franklincountyhabitat.com The deadline to apply is April 1.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Applicants must have a need for housing and be unable to obtain conventional financing due to limited income.

• Applicants must have enough income to repay the Habitat mortgage and monthly living expenses, and must have an acceptable credit history.

• Applicants must be willing to partner with Habitat which includes working at least 300 hours to help in building Habitat homes.

• Applicants must be willing to undergo a criminal background check. This does not automatically disqualify an applicant for consideration.

Applicants must fall within the annual income guidelines listed below: one person, $19,400 to $33,920; two persons, $22,200 to $38,800; three persons, $24,950 to $43,650; four persons, $27,700 to $48,450; five persons, $29,950 to $52,400; six persons, $32,150 to $56,250; seven persons, $34,350 to $60,100; eight persons, $36,600 to $64,000.
