A Franklin County man charged with threatening and robbing a St. Clair area woman at gunpoint in February has been given a 10-year suspended sentence and placed on five years’ probation.

Michael B. Murphy, 39, pleaded guilty Friday to a charge of first-degree burglary. A first-degree robbery charge was dropped as part of a plea bargain.

Prosecuting Attorney Bob Parks said he agreed to the plea bargain, citing “difficulties” with the case.

Murphy remains in custody on probation violation charges in two previous felony cases.

Parks said he will argue at an upcoming hearing that Murphy’s probation be revoked and that he be ordered to complete sentences in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
