Pace Construction Co. has been awarded the contract to seal various streets in Washington this year.

City council members approved an ordinance this week awarding the contract to Pace on the low bid of $357,000.

N.B. West Contracting Company, the only other bidder, submitted a bid of $434,037.60.

The engineer’s estimate for the work was $300,000.

In addition to sealing streets with an ultra thin bonded wearing surface, curb and gutter will be replaced or repaired in various areas.

City Engineer Dan Boyce said a date for starting the work will be discussed in a preconstruction conference with Pace.

Typically, street sealing work is done in June or July, depending on temperatures.
