Two people were arrested on drunk driving charges Friday, Aug. 23, in a series of checkpoints staged by Franklin County deputies.

A total of 128 vehicles were stopped at the checkpoints conducted on Highway 185 in Meramec State Park; Highway 185 at Noser Mill south of Beaufort; and on Highway UU at Meyer’s Landing west of Union.

In addition to the DWI arrests, county deputies plan to seek charges against one drunk driver for endangering the welfare of children riding in the vehicle, the sheriff’s office reported.

Deputies also arrested three people for driving with revoked licenses and arrested one person on a fugitive warrant.

Other people were issued summonses for driving without a valid license, possession of marijuana, failure to maintain insurance, seatbelt violation, minors in possession of alcohol, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Deputies also issued warning to drivers for seatbelt violations and not having insurance.
