Children 15 and under will have the chance to reel in fish and prizes at the Maramec Spring Park annual Kids Fishing Day Saturday, May 18.
The event will begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 8:15 p.m., rain or shine.
Free fishing tags will be available for pickup Friday, May 17, and all day Saturday.
The park will designate a special “Kids Only” fishing area for the event where trout will be restocked throughout the day.
Along with fishing, some of the activities of the day will include attendance prizes, rod and reel giveaways, a casting contest, free hotdogs and soda and a free fish mount for the biggest fish caught.
There also will be demonstrations on fish cleaning and cooking, information on aquatic entomology and critter stamping.
The annual Kids Fishing Day is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation, Maramec Spring Trout Fisherman’s Association, The James Foundation and other local businesses and entities.
Maramec Spring Park is located 6 miles east of St. James on Highway 8.
