The Missouri Department of Transportation will close a section of Jefferson Street at the Route 100 intersection in Washington beginning Wednesday, May 8.

All lanes on Jefferson Street will be closed only at the intersection on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to detour to High Street, then 14th Street to access Jefferson Street. This closure is expected to last until early June 2013.

This closure is part of the Route 100 widening project to make the following improvements from Route 47 to High Street:

• Widen Route 100 to four lanes from Route 47 to High Street

• Add dual left-turn lanes onto Route 100 from Route A and from Jefferson Street.

Construction was awarded to Millstone Bangert Inc., for approximately $6.2 million.
