The WINGS Educational Foundation will host its annual Family Picnic in the Park barbecue Friday, May 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Washington Fairgrounds.
The picnic is held to raise money for teacher grants for the School District of Washington.
There will be plenty of family-friendly activities this year in addition to great food.
Riverside Reptile Wildlife Center will have reptiles for children to learn about, touch and hold. Lolli the Clown will create balloon animals for children.
The Washington Middle School National Junior Honor Society will be painting young faces.
Additionally, two bounce houses will be inflated. Students in the Washington High School Jazz Band and String Quartet and WHS Choir will perform between 4 and 6 p.m. The Texas Giants will close out the picnic with music from 6 to 7.
A menu of pulled-pork sandwiches, pork steaks and chicken dinners will be available, as well as hot dogs and pork burgers for children.
Advance tickets are now on sale at $8 for adults and $3 for children.
Tickets may be purchased from WINGS board members, Washington-area public schools, Bank of Washington’s 14th Street location or by calling WINGS at 636-231-2000.
Tickets also will be available at the event for $10 for adults and $4 for children.
Local businesses have one last chance to get a jump on the good food by preordering lunches for Friday, May 3. Lunches will be delivered or may be picked up. The deadline to place your lunch order is Friday, April 19. Fax your company’s orders to 636-239-0219 or email email@example.com.
