Ward 1 Councilman Steve Sullentrup was elected Monday night to serve a three-month term as mayor pro tem of Washington.
He will finish the term of Tim Brinker as mayor pro tem until after the April 2, municipal election.
Brinker resigned from the council after his election as the new First District Franklin County commissioner. He took the oath of office Dec. 28.
Sullentrup was nominated for the post by Councilman Joe Holtmeier.
Councilman Jeff Mohesky was nominated by Councilman Mark Hidritch.
When Sullentrup received a unanimous vote from seven council members present, including Mohesky, City Counselor Mark Piontek said there was no need to vote on Mohesky’s nomination.
Sullentrup served as mayor pro tem from April 2011 until April 2012.
As mayor pro tem, he will serve in the absence of Mayor Sandy Lucy.
